Vegas, Baby! Courtney Ready to Represent C's on All-Star Dance Squad
Courtney is Vegas-bound after winning the online voting at NBA.com to represent the Boston Celtics on the first-ever NBA All-Star Dance Team.
BOSTON - Somebody in the apartment had to win. The only question was, who would it be?
Celtics Dancers Alison, Whitney and Courtney are all roommates in Boston, and all three of them were nominated for the first-ever NBA All-Star Dance Team that will perform at All-Star weekend in Las Vegas this February.
Regardless of who won the fan voting on NBA.com, somebody in the apartment would be heading the desert, and the other two would be excited for her.
The NBA announced the winners on Tuesday evening, and fans from around the world have spoken. So Courtney will be representing the apartment -- and the Celtics -- at All-Star Weekend, February 16-19 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Any one of us would have represented the Celtics well. It was up to the fans, but they are totally supportive. I got a card from everyone on the team with personal notes," Courtney said. "My roommates are very happy for me."
Courtney was sitting on the couch in her apartment Monday night watching a Full House rerun when she got the call from Dance Team Director Marina Ortega.
"She called me and told me to pack my bags, because I'm going to Vegas," said Courtney about an hour before tip-off Wednesday night. "I went to get off the couch and I literally fell on the ground!"
After picking up the phone again, Courtney was slightly embarrassed, and wanted to make sure Ortega was still on the line. She says she's never really won anything of this caliber, and she's excited to represent the first Celtics Dancers team on the first NBA All-Star Dance Team.
"It's exciting and I'm nervous at the same time. I can't even believe we're half way through the season and I'll be going to Vegas in a couple of weeks," Courtney said. "I love the energy of that city and I think it's an awesome place to have the All-Star Game."
Courtney says she doesn't get nervous when she takes the court for the Celtics anymore, but definitely gets an adrenaline rush when timeouts roll around and the dancers hit the floor. But when it comes to the All-Star Game, the excitement will be around blending in with 29 other girls from NBA teams and being around the glitz and glamour of All-Star Weekend.
"There's four different events we're dancing at, so I'm expecting different routines and a lot of hard work, but I love that. I love having to master something new," Courtney said.
