Austin Ainge - Director of Player Personnel
Austin Ainge enters his second season with the Celtics as the team’s Director of Player Personnel. Ainge rejoined the organization after spending two seasons as the Head Coach of the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Development League (2009-11).
Ainge previously worked for the team during the 2008-09 season as a scout. Ainge has previously worked at Southern Utah University where he was responsible for perimeter players, recruiting, player development, video breakdown, and developing game plans. Before coaching he had a very successful playing career at Brigham Young University, where he was a two-year captain and won 2 Mountain West Conference Championships. While at BYU Austin went to 3 NCAA tournaments and one NIT. His senior year Austin was one of the top three point shooters in the nation and led the conference by shooting .525 from behind the arc in conference play.
Before playing at BYU, Austin put his basketball career on hold and served a two-year mission for his church, living in and serving the communities in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where he learned to speak fluent Spanish. Austin is married to the former Crystal Bluth and has two sons, Andre and Finley.
