CommUNITY Crew Event - Horizons for Homeless Children

BOSTON – Members of the Celtics CommUNITY Crew spent Wednesday morning with youth from Horizons for Homeless Children. With volunteers working at Horizons’ three locations in Dorchester, Jamaica Plain and Roxbury, the crew was able to provide all of the children and families associated with Horizons some holiday cheer.

Following a tour of each club, volunteers, including members from Comcast SportsNet and NECN, spent an hour in the classrooms partaking in various activities with the children, from reading to the students to working on arts and crafts projects. The CommUNITY Crew, alongside Horizons staff, then helped prepare and serve a Thanksgiving meal to the students and families.

“Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces is a great feeling,” said CommUNITY Crew volunteer Kate Green. “It’s important that these children, like all kids, get to enjoy the holidays. It’s amazing how far a few hours can go to creating a memorable experience for the children and families at Horizons.”
