Delk, Forte Read to Achieve

Tony, Bernie Rogan and David greet the kids after a morning full of reading.
BOSTON (April 4, 2002) -- Celtics players Tony Delk and Joseph Forte represented the Celtics All-Star Reading Team on Thursday, April 4, when they visited the Dickerman School in Dorchester, MA.

Joe and Tony were joined by fellow reading members including Bernie Rogan, Shaw's Supermarkets Manager of Public Relations; David Woodman, General Manager of FOX Sports Net New England; Ed Lacerte, Celtics Trainer; Sharon O’Brien, wife of Celtics Head Coach Jim O'Brien; and Stacy Conner, wife of Celtics Assistant Coach Lester Conner.

The group spent the morning reading various children’s titles to young students. After reading in four classrooms, the team visited the remaining classes, passing out bookmarks and speaking to the students about the importance of reading.

The Read to Achieve program is an NBA initiative designed to promote the value of reading, and to build a lifelong love of reading in young people by providing greater access to books. Each month, the Celtics All-Star Reading Team visits the school with the highest level of participation of students in the Read to Achieve/ReadBoston program. Shaw’s Supermarkets proudly sponsor the Boston Celtics Read to Achieve program.
