Real Deal Program Information

Don't talk about it, Do it.
Don't wish for it, Go get it.
Work hard. Lead.
Be true to yourself.
Be the Real Deal.
The 8 Foundation

The Real Deal Program brings Antoine Walker's personal mission of becoming the "Real Deal" to the lives of over 1,000 Boston Public School eighth graders each year. Founded in 1998, this three-part program is managed by the Massachusetts Sports Partnership. The Real Deal Program is funded by Antoine's charitable foundation, The 8 Foundation, whose mission is to provide positive life experiences and opportunities for inner-city youth.

ABOUT THE REAL DEAL PROGRAM

Part 1: The Pledge
The Real Deal program begins with eighth grade social studies students signing the Real Deal Pledge. This pledge reflects Antoine's values and encourages students to work hard to achieve their goals.

Part 2: Community Service
Next, Real Deal classes participate in a Community Service Project. Projects range from picking up litter on the playground to volunteering within the community at places like nearby elementary schools, local hospitals and nursing homes.

Part 3: Final Project
After completing their Community Service, each class submits a Final Project. The projects include a class Creative Endeavor illustrating the group's community service experience, and individual Essays describing what they learned from the Real Deal Program.

The Grand Prize
Once the projects are submitted, a panelist of Real Deal judges determines the winner to receive the Grand Prize - a $5,000.00 grant delivered by Antoine himself!
