BOSTON (December 22, 2006) - Members of the Boston Celtics celebrated the holidays yesterday by visiting with patients at Children's Hospital Boston, which is a focus partner of the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation.
Forward Wally Szczerbiak visited Children's along with teammates Al Jefferson, Tony Allen, Kendrick Perkins, Rajon Rondo, Allan Ray and Leon Powe. In addition, Head Coach Doc Rivers and assistant coaches Kevin Eastman and Dave Wohl, along with Celtics Women's Group members Corinne Grousbeck, Esta Epstein, Deborah White and Brie Sacino joined the players in spreading holiday cheer to patients.
"It is very rewarding for me and my teammates to spend time with these brave children," Szczerbiak said. "The holidays were always my favorite time of year growing up, and it brings me great joy to help these kids celebrate while they are in the hospital."
Celtics players signed autographs, posed for photographs and distributed gifts to young patients who are hospitalized and will not be home for the holidays.
"The Celtics are dedicated to improving the lives of children in our community and providing them with unique opportunities like today," Women's Group member Corinne Grousbeck said. "The Celtics are proud to support Children's Hospital Boston as one of the focus partners of the Shamrock Foundation and raise the spirits of these courageous children."
