Boston Celtics Forward Ryan Gomes Receives First Annual Shamrock Foundation Community All-Star Award
New yearly award will be given at the end of each season to Celtic player who best exemplifies Celtic Pride through community work
BOSTON (April 18, 2007) - The Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation announced today that Celtics forward Ryan Gomes is the recipient of the First Annual Shamrock Foundation Community All-Star Award. Gomes will be presented the award at a pregame ceremony prior to the Celtics game on Wednesday, April 18. Gomes received the award for his dedication to community service.
"The Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation is extremely pleased to honor Ryan Gomes for his tireless work in the community," Celtics Managing Partner Steve Pagliuca said. "The Celtics organization prides itself on its commitment to making a positive impact on Boston and its youth. Ryan is just one of our players who are making a difference in our neighborhoods."
The Shamrock Foundation Community All-Star Award will be given annually at the end of each season to the player that best displays Celtic Pride through their work in the community. This season Celtics players made over 250 community appearances throughout the greater Boston area. Gomes represented the organization in the community 27 times this season.
"I am honored to receive the first Shamrock Foundation Community All-Star Award," Gomes said. "It feels great to be able to positively affect the lives of others through my work with the Boston Celtics."
