Bradley, CommUNITY Crew Help Children

Avery Bradley helped provide underserved children with the tools they need to succeed.

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Celtics CommUNITY Crew, in partnership with TD Bank, spent Thursday morning volunteering at Cradles to Crayons, a non-profit that provides essential life items to homeless and low-income children.

Joined by Celtics guard Avery Bradley, nearly 65 volunteers worked at various stations in the building’s Giving Factory to sort, fold and organize clothes, as well as pack bags for children in need. Volunteers received a list of items for specified youth and shopped around the giving factory, picking up age- and size-appropriate clothes, shoes, books, toys and art supplies for each deserving child.

Lynn Margherio, founder and CEO of Cradles to Crayons, thanked the volunteers by saying, “Everyone can make a difference in the life of a child and your support has been absolutely critical to enabling us to fulfill our mission, which is to provide children with everyday essentials.”

As the heart and soul of the organization, volunteers are the ones who keep Margherio’s dream alive. Bradley, who served as one of those critical volunteers on Thursday, spoke about how much he enjoyed his experience at Cradles to Crayons.

“I had a great time volunteering today,” he said. “It’s very important to give back to our community and Cradles to Crayons helps thousands of youth each year. Being able to gather items for children in need is something I will never forget.”

At the conclusion of the volunteer event, the entire group took a photo and learned that they helped hundreds of youth during their time at their stations. Volunteers left with a smile knowing that their hard work went to such a worthy cause.
