CommUNITY Crew Event - Harbor/C.A.S.H. Schools
DORCHESTER - The Celtics CommUNITY Crew in partnership with Arbella Insurance and the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation organized their 13th event on Wednesday at the Harbor Middle School and C.A.S.H. High School. Since starting the initiative last September, volunteers have dedicated over 3,000 hours to helping our community.
CommUNITY Crew members, with the help of City Year, focused their efforts towards improving the gym and locker room spaces the two schools share.
“Obesity rates among today’s youth are higher than ever,” remarked CommUNITY Crew member Dave Hoffman. “So, it’s very important that kids have access to spaces where they can be active. Today we were able to revamp the gym and locker rooms and know the students will appreciate it when they return from vacation.”
Volunteers worked on several projects throughout the day. Some repainted the gym blue, green and white to represent both schools’ colors, while others improved the outdated locker room and weight room spaces. Additionally, several panels with inspirational quotes were created to be displayed around the building.
The schools’ administrators were extremely grateful after looking at the changes and knew their students would be excited!
