Ricky Davis Helps Kick-Off National Kidney Foundation Walk

He wasn't dribbling coast to coast for an easy lay-up, nor was he connecting on a three-pointer or was he throwing down a patented thunderous slam-dunk. But on Saturday, June 5th, Celtics guard Ricky Davis was caught in action as he participated in the National Kidney Foundation's Boston Walk.

Davis, along with over 700 walkers and volunteers, was the 2004 Kidney Walk Honorary Chairman. The Boston Walk was held at the Franklin Park Zoo and the weather was a perfect ten as well. The Walk, which represents an occasion for dialysis patients, organ transplant recipients, organ donor families, the medical community and the general public to celebrate life and support the NKF, took participants through the various animal exhibits in the zoo and was followed by a hearty barbeque.

"I am happy to be helping out such a great charity in the National Kidney Foundation," remarked Davis. "I never realized that kidney disease affects over 40 million people nationally. I met so many wonderful people at the walk… you can really feel their energy in fighting this battle against kidney disease."

National Kidney Foundation of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Vermont Board Chairman Scott Schuster and Ricky welcomed everyone and then led the group of eager walkers to the start of their trek through the zoo.
