March 25, 2011 - Sean Lewis

Heroes Among Us

The Heroes Among Us award is a program of the Boston Celtics, presented by the Mass State Lottery.

Sean Lewis will never forget the multitude of emotions that coursed through his body on December 3rd. While working at a Foxwoods Resort and Casino pool, he was alarmed by the sound of a mother shrieking as she realized her toddler son had fallen into the water.

Sean instantly rushed over to the side of the pool to what appeared to be a lifeless little boy. Without a momentís hesitation, he began to administer CPR and amazingly the child began to breathe.

Thanks to Seanís immediate response, the young boy has since made a full recovery! For his quick-thinking and heroic actions, please join us in welcoming tonightís Hero Among Us, Sean Lewis!

March 23, 2011 - Jack Maguire

Heroes Among Us

The Heroes Among Us award is a program of the Boston Celtics, presented by the Mass State Lottery.

Decorated police officer Jack Maguire spent the last 34 years protecting and serving the people of Woburn. The married father of three was a staple on the police force and dedicated his life to ensuring the safety of others.

Last December while responding to an armed robbery call in progress, Officer Maguire arrived in time to see the suspects fleeing the scene. Maguire immediately raced after them.

Tragically, he was fatally wounded during an exchange of gunfire. Thanks to Jackís heroic actions, fellow officers were able to apprehend the other two suspects. For his lifelong dedication to safety, the entire Celtics family would like to welcome Officer Jack Maguireís wife and children who are accepting the award on his behalf.

March 16, 2011 - Jody Whyte

Heroes Among Us

The Heroes Among Us award is a program of the Boston Celtics, presented by the Mass State Lottery.

Athletic trainer Jody Whyte will never forget the night of December 20th. Milford High Schoolís hockey team had a game against Nipmuc when suddenly 15-year old freshman Tyler was hit in the chest with a hockey puck and instantly collapsed on the ice.

With alarm pulsing through the arena, Jody and a few other good Samaritans immediately rushed to his aid. Thankfully, Jody was trained in CPR and was able to successfully revive Tylerís heartbeat with the help of a defibrillator! Thanks to Jodyís quick-thinking, Tyler has since fully recovered from what could have been a terrible tragedy.

March 13, 2011 - Colleen Flanagan

Heroes Among Us

The Heroes Among Us award is a program of the Boston Celtics, presented by the Mass State Lottery.

Through her own disability, Colleen Flanagan fully understands the challenges that Easter Seals clients encounter on a daily basis. Serving as an All-Star mentor for hundreds of disabled teens and young adults, Colleen has made it her lifeís mission to help youth with disabilities foster independence and self-confidence.

For the last three years, Colleen has organized a youth leadership forum which empowers disabled youth to unlock their full potential. Leading by example, Colleen serves as an inspiration for everyone she meets by never letting her own disability stand in the way of her dreams.

For her 15-year commitment and devotion to the disabled community, please welcome tonightís Hero Among Us, Colleen Flanagan!

March 9, 2011 - Clifford Weeks

Heroes Among Us

The Heroes Among Us award is a program of the Boston Celtics, presented by the Mass State Lottery.

Clifford Weeks has dedicated over 37 years of his life to working with Boston Public Schools, the Boston Communities and Berklee City Music. Having served as a music teacher, curriculum advisor, administrator and mentor, Clifford has made an overwhelming impact on the lives of countless individuals.

Most notably, Clifford played a significant role as mediator during the tumultuous Boston Public Schools busing era in the 1970ís. His compassion in his work helped to garner peace and contributed to changes in policy that are still felt today. Clifford has won numerous awards including most recently the 2010 Berklee College Urban Service Legacy Award.

For his selfless dedication to helping youth, please welcome tonightís Hero Among Us, Clifford Weeks!

March 4, 2011 - Anjali Forber-Pratt

Heroes Among Us

The Heroes Among Us award is a program of the Boston Celtics, presented by the Mass State Lottery.

Anjali Forber-Pratt never let her paralysis distract from her goals. At the age of six, she was wheelchair racing and downhill skiing. At nine, Anjali won a national competition and her career took off!

Most recently, Anjali won three medals, one gold and two silver, at the 2011 Paralympics Athletics World Championships and is training for the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. In her quest to help other athletes with disabilities, Anjali has also co-authored an educational kidsí coloring book about disabled sports.

For her inspirational story and dedication to others with disabilities, please welcome tonightís Hero Among Us, Anjali Forber-Pratt!

March 2, 2011 - Paul Karrlsson-Willis

Heroes Among Us

The Heroes Among Us award is a program of the Boston Celtics, presented by the Mass State Lottery.

Paul Karrlson-Willis has dedicated his life to helping those with intellectual disabilities. Serving as a volunteer Special Olympics soccer coach, Paul works with his athletes to instill high standards of excellence. The soccer program has grown under his leadership and has changed the lives of hundreds of athletes, volunteers and family members.

In addition, Paul organizes the Special Olympics Massachusetts Golf-a-Thon. In its fifth year, Paulís tournament supports the training, competition and health improvement programs of Special Olympics Massachusetts. Amazingly, the tournament has raised over a half a million dollars!

For his unwavering commitment to help sustain and improve Special Olympics programs, please welcome tonightís Heroes Among Us, Paul Karrlsson-Willis!
