Heroes Among Us - June 2012

June 7, 2012 - Marianne and Rob Brouillette

Heroes Among Us

The Heroes Among Us award is a program of the Boston Celtics, presented by the Mass State Lottery.

Seven years ago, Marianne and Rob Brouillette (Bree-et) welcomed a classmate of their daughter’s into their home after realizing he had nowhere to go.

Upon learning that more than 10,000 Massachusetts children are homeless, the couple knew they had to continue to keep their door open for children in need. To that end, the Brouillettes began working with the Department of Children & Families offering emergency care and long-term foster care for children. Since 2005, Marianne and Rob have amazingly provided a safe and loving home for 75 children!

For their commitment and dedication to foster children, please join us in welcoming Marianne and Rob Brouillette as tonight’s Heroes Among Us.

June 3, 2012 - Karen King

Heroes Among Us

The Heroes Among Us award is a program of the Boston Celtics, presented by the Mass State Lottery.

When Karen King’s town of Monson (mun-son) was hit by devastating tornados last June, hundreds of families lost everything including their homes.

Knowing that she had to help in some way, Karen became the liaison between FEMA and the people of Monson, organized volunteer groups to assist the families in need and even found new housing for those affected! She has since formed her own foundation to aid her cause and was recognized by Governor Patrick as a 2012 Unsung Heroine for her amazing work!

For her continued dedication to helping others, please join us in welcoming Karen King as tonight’s Hero Among Us.

The Heroes Among Us award is a program of the Boston Celtics, presented by the Mass State Lottery.

Massachusetts Army National Guard Staff Sergeant Daniel Bertrand has dedicated his life to serving and protecting America.

Wanting to ensure the civilians live in a peaceful environment, he helped to train and mentor over 350 Afghan police officers and conducted over 125 combat missions. Because of his efforts, he remarkably received seven honors including the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal!
