Heroes Among Us - December 2006

December 6, 2006 - Corporal Greg Chartier

Heroes Among Us

The Heroes Among Us award is a program of the Boston Celtics, presented by the Mass State Lottery, represented here by Brian O'Brien.

Corporal Chartier first joined the Marine Corps in 2002. In September 2004, Greg left for Afghanistan and spent seven months there as part of the 3rd Marine division.

Corp. Chartier is the rare individual who upon returning from Afghanistan, still felt that there is more he could do. In March of this year, Greg was voluntarily deployed again, this time to Haditha, Iraq. Over the past eight months, Chartier and his battalion worked with the Iraqi people to create a local police force.

Corp Chartier believes he simply did as every Marine would do: protect and serve this country.

For his dedication to the Marines and to this country, please join us in recognizing tonight's Hero Among Us, Corporal Greg Chartier.
