BOSTON, MA (November 25, 2004) - Celtics captain Paul Pierce hosted a buffet and sit-down dinner for 50 single mothers and their families on Thanksgiving at the Marriott Boston Copley Place. The families, selected by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, the West End House Boys & Girls Club of Allston/Brighton and other community-based organizations, were treated to a traditional Thanksgiving meal complete with live jazz music provided by Tony Vaughn and The Rollins Ross Trio. Each guest also received a complimentary ticket to an upcoming Celtics home game, and Winston Flowers provided centerpieces and floral arrangements for the event.

"As someone who was raised by a single mother, I know how challenging the holiday season can be," Pierce said. "I wanted to do this event not only as a tribute to my own mother, but also to help other families and to make their holiday a little easier. Anytime I can go into the community and help our fans, I am happy to do so."

The mission of the Truth Fund is to provide educational and life-enriching opportunities for disadvantaged youth. Pierce's vision for the Fund is to ensure that opportunities are available for young people to recognize their dreams through mentoring programs, technology and other educational needs as well as fostering stable and safe environments for children.

A charter member of the Basketball Association of America (which evolved into the National Basketball Association) since 1946, the Boston Celtics have won a record 16 NBA Championships, including eight (8) in a row from 1959-1966, and have won NBA titles in three different eras. In addition, 29 former Celtics players, management or staff have been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
