Celtics Cowens Camps Information
- Day camps are open to boys and girls ages 10 – 18.
- Day camps are Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- BE ON TIME! All campers should arrive by 8:30 a.m. for morning sign-in and daily attendance.
- It is recommended that campers bring a box lunch every day. Drinks will be available for campers to purchase.
What to bring to camp:
- Two (2) t-shirts
- *NO cell phones
- *NO jewelry

Dave Cowens, Director:
Dave Cowens, former star of the Boston Celtics, NBA Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player, member of numerous All Star Teams, member of 1974 and 1976 World Champion Boston Celtics, and distinguished member of those players honored by having their numbers retired, elected into the Basketball Hall of Fame, Assistant Coach, San Antonio Spurs, Head Coach, Charlotte Hornets, Head Coach, Golden State Warriors, selected as one of the greatest 50 NBA players of all time, current General Manager and Head Coach of the new Chicago WNBA Team (Chicago Sky), current First Assistant Coach of the Detroit Pistons.
Joe Amorosino, General Manager/Supervisor:
For more than 40 years he is known as one of the top fundamental and motivational lecturers. Known for his individual and team defensive lectures, Joe brings a passion to the court that is inspiring and at the same time teaches the mindset needed to become a better player. Joe is one of the longest running basketball camp directors in the country. Joe has coached basketball at all levels and has been inducted into four basketball halls of fame including: Sharon High School Athletic Hall of Fame where he played high school basketball, Quincy High School Basketball Hall of Fame where he coached for many years, the Plymouth State University Athletic Hall of Fame, and the Massachusetts Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.
Rich Cormier, Camp Director:
Rich Cormier was born and raised in Rockland, MA (’99). He went onto Boston University (’03) where he also earned a master’s degree in Sports Psychology (’04). He has been a social studies teacher at Norwood High School in Norwood, MA for the past 9 years, and is entering his 8th season as the Boys Varsity Basketball Coach. His team won the MIAA Division II Sportsmanship Award for the 2012-13 season. He has 11 total years of coaching high school basketball on his resume and has directed and coached camps across MA for the past 12 years.
James Bakeman, Camp Director:
James Bakeman is Head boys’ Varsity basketball coach at The Austin Preparatory School in Reading, MA, (2008-Present). He is also an English Teacher at Minuteman High School in Lexington, MA (2003-Present). James has 15 years of high school basketball coaching experience under his belt, and was the 2007-08 Massachusetts Coaches Association Div 4 North Assistant Coach of the year. He is a graduate of Salem State College (MAT – English), is a Site Director at Celtics Cowens Camps since 2012, and was Co-Director of the Fast-Break Basketball School (Melrose/Burlington 1999-2009).
