This week’s Featured Fan is Veteran, Player Section season ticket holder, Fred from Danvers. Fred was interviewed by his Account Executive, David Cohen.
DC: Thank you for taking the time out of your day to give me an interview. If my memory serves me right, you purchased your season tickets before the 2007-08 season, correct?
Fred: Yes, I tell everyone my story. I used to come to individual games throughout the year but I decided that I wanted to get season tickets. [David] took me into the Garden and showed me a few locations and I picked out a set of 4 seats in section 8, row 3. It was the summer of 2007, before the NBA draft lottery. I watched the 2007 NBA draft lottery while on business in Hawaii and we all know how that turned out. I still had a great feeling about the team though!
DC: What made you decide to purchase the seats?
Fred: Well first off, I love the sport of basketball. I was coming to games each season but I wanted better seats. The seat location was probably the biggest motivating factor. When I would come in for individual games, the location was never too great. I wanted to be closer to the action and have the control to determine which games I would be able to attend. I also knew that I would be able to sell the games that I could not attend. I had a feeling that the team was due to turn things around and that tickets would be harder to get.
DC: How do you utilize the tickets?
Fred: I use them mostly for entertainment, whether it is with family, friends, or business. My 4 kids love to go to the Garden and they come to about 5-10 games per year (mostly weekends). It’s also great to come in with my friends for a night out. Finally, since I am in sales, the tickets are a huge benefit for client entertainment. My clients love them! If I have any extra games, I can easily sell them to friends, colleagues, or on TicketExchange.
DC: Do you have any pre-game routines?
Fred: Yes, when I am coming in with the guys, I always go to the Sports Grill pre-game for food and drinks. It is a very fun atmosphere with TVs right at the booths. When I get into the Garden, I go to the concession stand between sections 8 and 9 and get a drink from “Rob the Bartender” and say hi. He is a great guy!
DC: Do you have a favorite moment as a season ticket holder?
Fred: There are a lot. Obviously, Game 6 of the 2008 NBA Finals was a night I’ll never forget. To be there was amazing. I was even able to sneak down onto the edge of the court during the ceremony. Another moment that comes to mind is the night my son was picked by one of the Green Team members to take part in an on-court halftime promotion. He got to go on the court and meet Lucky and the dancers. It was an unbelievable experience for him!
DC: Finally, why would you recommend Celtics season tickets to someone else?
Fred: It is the ultimate entertainment experience. Whether you’re coming in for a night out with friends, or more importantly for me, a night out with my family, you cannot beat the entertainment. Nothing against the other sports teams, because I love all the New England teams, but nothing is better than a live basketball game at the Garden. It has it all. The game is fast paced and the entertainment between play keeps you engaged. Everything about the night is so convenient. You can park inside the Garden and take an elevator up to the arena. There are also many restaurants outside to have something to eat or drink pre or post-game.
