Cavs Plant Trees at Cleveland School

Northeast Ohio will be a little greener in the future, thanks to the Cleveland Cavaliers and PwC and their “Trees for Threes” program. With trees donated by The Davey Tree Expert Company, the two organizations pledged to plant one tree for every three-pointer made by the Cavs over the course of the team’s 41 regular season home games in 2014-15 – resulting in 422 total trees being planted in Cleveland and Akron.

The first 300-plus trees were planted at Anton Grdina Elementary School on Cleveland’s east side on Wednesday. Many familiar Cavs faces were on hand for the occasion, including legends Austin Carr and Campy Russell; in-arena host Ahmaad; members of the Cavalier Girls and Scream Team; mascot Sir C.C.; President of Business Operations, Kerry Bubolz; and Executive Vice President/CFO, Mozelle Jackson.

They were joined by Lake Erie Market Managing Partner and Deals Partner of PwC US, Mark Ross; VP of Corporate Communications & Strategic Planning for Davey Tree, Sandra Reid; and Cleveland City Council member Phyllis Cleveland (Ward 5).

Volunteers from the Cavs, PwC, Anton Grdina, Davey Tree, Western Reserve Land Conservancy, CMHA and The Holden Arboretum were also at the school to help plant the new trees.

The remaining 100 trees will then be planted in the Akron area next month.
