Samsung NBA Summer League 2015 Schedule

New York — The Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Lakers, who hold the top two picks in NBA Draft 2015 presented by State Farm, will square off on Friday, July 10 on the first day of Samsung NBA Summer League. In addition, a meeting between the two NBA Finalists, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors, will complete the opening day of an 11-day, 67-game event at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on the University of Nevada Las Vegas campus.

NBA TV will televise all 67 games at the annual showcase of future NBA stars, culminating with the Samsung NBA Summer League Championship Game at 6 p.m. PT on Monday, July 20 at the Thomas & Mack Center. Also, fans again will be able to watch games live on NBA.com and via the NBA Game Time App. The complete game schedule is attached. The broadcast schedule will be released at a later date.

Samsung NBA Summer League 2015 will tip off at 3 p.m. PT on July 10 when the Milwaukee Bucks play the New Orleans Pelicans at Cox Pavilion. The Pelicans, coming off their first playoff appearance since 2011, recently hired Alvin Gentry as their new head coach.

The second of three games at the Thomas & Mack Center on July 10 will feature the Timberwolves and Lakers (5:30 p.m. PT). Minnesota owns the No. 1 pick in NBA Draft 2015 presented by State Farm for the first time in franchise history, and Los Angeles will pick second for its highest selection in 33 years. Top prospects for the June 25 draft at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., include Kentucky center Karl-Anthony Towns, Duke center Jahlil Okafor, Latvian forward Kristaps Porzingis of the Spanish club team Sevilla, Ohio State guard D'Angelo Russell and guard Emmanuel Mudiay, who played professionally for the Guangdong Southern Tigers in China last season.

During Samsung NBA Summer League 2014, a game between the top two picks in last year's draft -- the Cleveland Cavaliers' Andrew Wiggins (who would be traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves before the regular season) and the Milwaukee Bucks' Jabari Parker -- was the second-most-viewed NBA Summer League telecast of all time. Wiggins went on to win the 2014-15 Kia NBA Rookie of the Year Award, the eighth winner in the last 10 years to participate at Samsung NBA Summer League.

After the Timberwolves-Lakers game, the Warriors will close the first day of Samsung NBA Summer League 2015 at the Thomas & Mack Center when they take on the Cavaliers (7:30 p.m. PT). Golden State won the inaugural NBA Summer League Championship in 2013 with a roster that included forward Draymond Green, a starter in The Finals 2015 and the runner-up in the balloting this season for both the Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award and the Kia Most Improved Player Award.

The reigning Summer League champion Sacramento Kings will also be in action on the opening day of Samsung NBA Summer League 2015, beginning their title defense against the Toronto Raptors at 3:30 p.m. PT at the Thomas & Mack Center. Last year, the Kings defeated the Houston Rockets in the Championship Game to punctuate a Samsung NBA Summer League that set all-time records for attendance, NBA TV viewership, digital consumption on NBA.com and NBA Mobile, and overall merchandise sales. Last summer was the second time that Samsung NBA Summer League used a tournament-style schedule and finished with a Championship Game, a format that will be used for the third consecutive year this July.

The 24-team field at Samsung NBA Summer League 2015 is composed of 14 playoff teams from the 2014-15 NBA season, nine teams with lottery picks in NBA Draft 2015 presented by State Farm and an NBA Development League Select Team. Teams will compete in three preliminary round games from July 10-14 before being seeded in a tournament that starts on July 15 and concludes with the Championship Game on July 20. Each team is guaranteed to play at least five games.

Samsung, the official handset, tablet and television provider of the NBA, WNBA and NBA D-League, is the title partner of NBA Summer League for the second straight year.
