Arinze Onuaku Added as 2014 NBA D-League All-Star

Canton Charge forward/center Arinze Onuaku has been added as a replacement in the 2014 NBA Development League All-Star Game in New Orleans on February 15, the league announced today. Onuaku will play for the “Futures” team, alongside Charge teammate Kevin Jones and helmed by Canton Head Coach Steve Hetzel, Assistant Coaches Jordi Fernandez, James Posey and Nate Reinking as well as Head Athletic Trainer Mike Gittinger.

The honor is Onuaku’s second in his second year with Canton and third in the D-League. Arinze was an All-Star during the 2012-13 season with the Charge, playing 19 minutes and scoring 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting with five rebounds in a 139-125 victory for the “Prospects”. This season, Onuaku is averaging 14.5 points on .626 shooting with 9.5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 24.2 minutes per game. His field goal percentage is the second-best among all players in the D-League.

The eighth annual NBA D-League All-Star Game takes place on Saturday, February 15, at Sprint Arena inside NBA All-Star Jam Session at New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The game will air live on NBA TV at 3 p.m. ET.

The Charge will be back at the Civic Center for their next game on Tuesday, February 18 versus the defending champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
