2013 Colorful Community Contest

The Cleveland Cavaliers, Lake Erie Monsters and the Glidden® brand have teamed up to make schools in Northeast Ohio better and brighter. The “Colorful Community Contest” allows area schools to apply for the opportunity to have a classroom, hallway or other space repainted by the experts with Glidden paint.

“For the second consecutive year, we are pleased to partner with the Glidden brand in such a worthwhile project,” said Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena Chief Executive Officer Len Komoroski. “We hope that this project will encourage schools to continue to get involved in improving the spaces where the children of our community are learning and growing.”

The project is designed to help upgrade the facilities where school children learn by making them fresher, brighter and more colorful. To nominate a local school, please visit www.cavs.com or www.lakeeriemonsters.com for more information on the contest and to download the application.

“The Glidden brand recognizes the difficulty that some schools face in finding funds within their operating budget to do simple maintenance-related projects like painting,” said Rob Horton, vice president of marketing for Akzo Nobel Paints LLC, the makers of Glidden paint. “That’s where we can help. This is a great opportunity for us to add colors to the communities we work and play in.”

All applications are due by Wednesday, February 13, 2013 and can be faxed to 216.420.2010, emailed to ethomas@cavs.com or mailed to “Colorful Community Contest”, One Center Court, Cleveland, OH 44115.

After all submissions are received, three finalists will be selected by the Cavs and Monsters front office members. The three finalists’ applications will be placed on www.cavs.com and www.lakeeriemonsters.com for fans to vote for the winning school. On-line voting will begin on February 22nd and conclude on March 8th. The winner will be notified on Monday, April 2nd.
