Cavs Trade in Basketballs for Bowling Balls with Special Olympics

Several members of the Cleveland Cavaliers had their own “two-a-day” on Sunday: after practicing at Cleveland Clinic Courts in the morning, the team flew to Columbus ahead of their preseason game on Monday; once there, multiple players took in their second “practice” of the day. Matthew Dellavedova, Shane Edwards, Joe Harris, Alex Kirk and AJ Price joined 40 Special Olympics athletes at their bowling practice Sunday evening. The Special Olympics competitors are preparing for the State Team Bowling Tournament, which will be held in Columbus at the end of October.

Cavs assistant coach Bret Brielmaier and strength and conditioning coach Derek Millender laced up their bowling shoes at Sawmill Lanes as well.

The Cavs were in Columbus for their preseason matchup against the Chicago Bulls, which will be held Monday on the campus of Ohio State University at the Schottenstein Center. The Special Olympics bowlers will be guests of the Cavs at Monday’s game.
