Cavs, Monsters and Walgreens Donate 250 Backpacks to Boys & Girls Clubs of Lorain!

Local Students Enjoy Final Days of Summer with a Back-to-School Soiree

BackpackCLEVELAND – The Cleveland Cavaliers, Lake Erie Monsters and Walgreens made a visit to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lorain on Friday, August 24th to make sure that hundreds of local students were ready to hit the books this fall! More than 250 excited students arrived for a back-to-school bash, where they each received their own brand-new backpack, stuffed with the essentials – notebooks, pencils, glue sticks, pink erasers and more, courtesy of Walgreens.

Cherishing the last few moments of summer vacation, the kids of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lorain County were treated to an afternoon picnic, larger-than-life Cavs inflatable games and special appearances by the Cavs Scream Team and Cavs mascots Moondog and Sir C.C.

Just a week earlier, the Cavs, Monsters and Walgreens also donated 750 brand-new backpacks to local students at the Ohio City Dialogues “Backpack to School” event. Parents and students lined up as early as 8:00 a.m. for the afternoon event and received backpacks stuffed with school supplies, as well as information on community support services, youth programs and school uniforms. Ohio City Dialogues, a non-profit collaboration that brings together the 125 nonprofits in the Ohio City neighborhood, also provided food, music and games for the hundreds of families in attendance.
