Season Overview: In one respect, it’s easy to know what you’re going to get from Anderson Varejao – all-out energy, heart and hustle, rock-solid rebounding and defense. In another respect, it’s tough to expect an entire season of that good stuff.
The two are interrelated. There might not be a player in the NBA who gives his body up more than Varejao. But over the past two seasons, he’s taken a physical pounding for doing so.
Students are preparing to scorch up the courts this summer as the National Basketball Academy will again host the official 2012 Cleveland Cavaliers Summer Camps Program! The popular youth basketball training camps return to Northeast Ohio and Pittsburgh, PA beginning June 11th. Cavs guard Daniel “Boobie” Gibson will make a special appearance to dish out lessons to campers at two special overnight and day camps starting July 8-12 and 9-13.

The caricature of that long-nosed diablo to your right – (my left) – can only mean that another week has come and gone and it’s time for another installment of that free-form, three-ring cavalcade of whimsy dubbed NEWS …AROUND … THE … LEAGUE.
As I mentioned in the first N.A.T.L. of the summer, I like a nice routine. But I’m also mindful to heed the words of 19th century Transcendentalist, Ralph Waldo Emerson, who said: “Foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.”

On Wednesday night, Nick Gilbert and the Cavaliers didn’t shock the NBA world like they did one year ago. But they still secured a pick that’ll propel them to the next level – landing the No. 4 selection in this June’s Draft.
As for the 2012 Lottery’s big winner, it was the New Orleans Hornets who, like the Cavaliers one year ago, battled through a rough transitional season to beat the odds and take home the top pick.
