LeBron James and Gilbert Arenas will renew the epic battle from last year's postseason in the Cavaliers' home opener Nov. 1.

CLEVELAND, August 1 – For the third consecutive year, the Cleveland Cavaliers will begin the season at The Q as they tip-off the 2006-07 campaign on November 1 in a nationally-televised game against the Washington Wizards before heading south to face the Southwest Division Champion San Antonio Spurs on November 3.

Both games are scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN as the Cavaliers are slated to appear on a franchise-record and league-maximum 33 national television broadcasts including:

  • 10 games on ESPN (Nov. 1 vs. Washington, Nov. 3 at San Antonio, Dec. 20 at New Jersey, Jan. 19 at Denver, Jan. 26 at Philadelphia, Feb. 9 vs. Miami, March 21 vs. Dallas, March 25 vs. Denver, March 31 at Chicago and April 6 at Washington)
  • Nine games on TNT (Nov. 9 vs. Chicago, Dec. 21 vs. Detroit, Jan. 11 at Phoenix, Feb. 1 at Miami, Feb. 15 at the Los Angeles Lakers, Feb. 22 vs. Chicago, March 1 at Dallas, April 5 vs. Miami and April 12 vs. New Jersey)
  • Five games on ABC (Jan. 28 vs. Phoenix, Feb. 4 vs. Detroit, Feb. 11 vs. the Los Angeles Lakers, Feb. 25 at Miami and April 8 at Detroit)
  • Nine games on NBA TV (Nov. 13 at New York, Nov. 18 at Washington, Dec. 11 at New Orleans/Oklahoma City, Dec. 16 at Orlando, Dec. 27 at Atlanta, Dec. 30 at Chicago, Jan. 2 vs. San Antonio, March 7 at Detroit and March 27 at Indiana)

    The 82-game schedule consists of 41 home and 41 road games. The Cavaliers will face each Western Conference opponent twice this season, once at home and once on the road. Each Eastern Conference opponent will match up against Cleveland four times with the exception of Boston, Orlando, New Jersey and Washington, whom the Cavs will play three times.

    With the exception of Thanksgiving, the Cavaliers will be home for the holidays as they host the Orlando Magic two days prior to Christmas on December 23 and later welcome the Spurs to The Q to start the New Year on January 2. Other highlights include two visits from Shaquille O’Neal, Dwyane Wade and the defending NBA Champion Miami Heat on February 9 and April 5, the defending Western Conference Champion Dallas Mavericks’ visit on March 21 and a pair of stop-ins by Central Division rival the Detroit Pistons on December 21 and February 4.

    The Cavaliers’ home schedule includes 19 weekend games with eight Saturday games, six Friday games and five Sunday games. Cleveland will play three matinee games at home this season with a 1 p.m. game against Phoenix on January 28, a 2:30 p.m. contest against Detroit on February 4 and a 3:30 p.m. game against the Los Angeles Lakers on February 11.

    Cleveland’s longest home stand of the season will be a five-game set beginning on February 2 versus Charlotte and concluding against the Los Angeles Lakers on February 11. The Cavaliers’ longest road trip of the season will be a seven-game, 12-day trek out West starting in Sacramento against the Kings on January 9 and ending in Golden State against the Warriors on January 20. Cleveland will play a total of 22 back-to-back games throughout the 2006-07 season.

    Last season, Cleveland had one of its finest seasons in franchise history, posting a 50-32 (.610) record and finishing with the fourth-best record in team history. The Cavaliers clinched home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs and defeated the Washington Wizards (4-2) in the opening round before falling in the conference semifinals to the Detroit Pistons (4-3). Cleveland increased its average home attendance for the third consecutive season, averaging 19,327 fans and finishing with 17 sellouts during the 2005-06 season. The Cavs sold out all six of their home games during the postseason.

    Full season tickets are currently on sale, while partial (10-game and 21-game) season ticket plans will go on sale in early September on a date to be announced. Deposits for partial season ticket plans and group tickets (20 or more tickets to a single game) are now being accepted to determine seating location priority.
