Cavaliers Head Coach Byron Scott

On tonight’s game: “Kyrie (Irving) took over in the second half. We made some mistakes that got us in trouble. For the most part we battled, we competed and we played with (a) sense of urgency.”

On Kyrie Irving: “I wouldn’t say I am surprised with how well he played. I did have to insert him a little early because I didn’t want to have the game get away.”

On the end of the game: “I figured the way Kyrie (Irving) was shooting the ball I knew Jason (Kidd) and Tyson (Chandler) would trap him. He (Anderson Varejao) did the right thing. He took it to the basket, got fouled and unfortunately he missed one of the free-throws.”

Anderson Varejao

On tonight’s game: “I can’t even be mad because the way I missed it, it felt good, better than the first one…unfortunately it was at the end of the game and we only had 1 more second to play. We gave ourselves the chance to win and we fought back and made a run to get back into the game. I believe if we play like that every night, we are going to win more games and that’s what we have to do.”

On Kyrie Irving: “He is amazing…a great player and very talented. There are going to be some nights where he just looks incredible out there, just like tonight.”

Kyrie Irving

On tonight’s game: “When we play like that and when we play together and we compete on both ends of the court, we give ourselves the chance to win…that’s a plus. We gave ourselves the chance to go into overtime. Anderson (Varejao) had a good look at the free throw line, but he just didn’t make it, but I am still proud of our effort.”

Knicks Head Coach Mike Woodson

On tonight’s game: “I didn’t make the adjustments. We should have ran Tyson (Chandler) at him (Kyrie Irving) along with (Jason) Kidd to get the ball out of his hands especially after he made that first three. He had a great game and we had a heck of a game. I am pleased with the outcome.”

On Tyson Chandler: “Anytime you are shorthanded…you have to log some minutes. I needed Tyson towards the end. I played the whole second half and it worked out for us. His offense came to life and it was huge.”

On tonight’s win: “It is very important. It doesn’t matter who you play. We are trying to continue our winning ways at home.”

On Kyrie Irving: “He is phenomenal. I had an opportunity to watch him this Summer at the Olympic tryouts. Him competing against LeBron (James) and Melo (Carmelo Anthony) and I thought he was the bright spot. He could easily have played on that team.”

On Chris Copeland: “I thought he played great. He can make shots. I was pretty pleased with his play.”

Chris Copeland

On starting tonight: “I was excited to play but everything settled down pretty fast. Let the game come (to me). A lot of my teammates told me to stay aggressive.”

On Kyrie Irving: “He is a tough matchup but we had a great game tonight. We knew it was going to be a hard fought game but we came out and did our job tonight.”

Raymond Felton

On the end of the game: “I hope he (Anderson Varejao) misses and he did. We got the rebound and the game was over. I didn’t want this game to go into overtime.”

On Kyrie Irving: “When a guy gets that hot there is nothing you can really do. He hit great shots but we still got the win. That kid has a bright future. I think he is one of the best point guards in the League and he is still young and is going to get better.”

Tyson Chandler

On tonight’s game: “It was a big game for us. My teammates did an excellent job of finding me on penetration.”

More on tonight’s game: “I was a little under the weather so coach wanted to limit my minutes in the first half. Obviously down the stretch he needed me in the second half.”

On playing without Carmelo Anthony: “It is important that we win. We definitely want to keep it rolling. When one guy goes down another guy has to step up. We also understand how crucial and important Carmelo is to our success.”
