Cavaliers Head Coach Byron Scott

(On tonight’s game)
”It’s not the way we wanted to end it, but it was kind of indicative of our season where we question how were we going to come out in the first quarter. From that point on we played okay. We played much better, played harder. We’ve been saying this all season long, we’re not good enough to give teams 20-point leads and try to come back and win the game.”

(On the team’s no-quit mentality)
“All season long our guys have fought back and that’s a credit to them. They never really gave up. Larry Brown, who is one of my best friends, says it’s always easier to come back and lose. You get to the point where you are a little embarrassed and you play a little harder. If we would have had the mentality tonight from the second quarter on we could have won the game.”

Kyrie Irving

(On what led to tonight’s loss)
“A few costly mistakes and a few easy baskets that they got. That was basically the game. We came back from down 24 just by pure passion and pure heart, and we just couldn’t close it out.”

(On the importance of developing confidence as a team)
“The confidence that we have, we’re starting to develop it, it starts with our young core and it goes to everybody else on our team. We just have to have that confidence in each other and believe in each other and the sky is the limit for us. We’ve proven throughout the season that we can play with any team in this league and beat a lot of good teams in this league. Like I said, it’s just confidence in one another and continuing this growth for us.”

(On the message he would give his teammates going into the offseason)
“Just keep this season in mind, the ups and downs that we had, and what we can do individually to make this team better. We’ll come back collectively in September a better ball club. That’s the main goal, just to continually get better. Next season we want to limit the mistakes we made this season. We’re not going to win a lot of games if we continue to be the last-place team in the NBA in defensive field goal percentage. We have a lot of things we have to correct, and this summer is a big summer for all of us.”

Bobcats Head Coach Mike Dunlap

(On the team’s improvement this season)
“The improvement was unbelievable. I don’t have to sell it. The facts are the facts. The young guys just got better and better and that goes beyond question. There was an exciting brand of basketball coming down the back stretch. Some of the pain that we had early paid off later and it feels good.”

(On what he’s most proud of this season)
“The evolution of our young guys and the fact that we went from seven wins to 21, we tripled our pleasure. It’s not everything but it’s a start. We’re developing a culture of class in how we play the game and how we act on the bench. You can’t come down the back stretch if there are problems in your locker room and we didn’t have that.”

Kemba Walker

(On tonight’s game)
“It was a tough night for me honestly. I was kind of tired. My wind just wasn’t right for some reason. I just tried to push through and stay aggressive and try to will my team to a win.”

(On the end of the season)
“My excitement comes from that we finished off strong. We were in a lot of games toward the end of the season. We fought really hard. We came together as a team. We came out with three big wins. We really wanted to win these games and we did.”

(On what the team learned this season)
“I think that we can compete with anyone when we want to. We have to get more consistent as a team, competing every night, giving ourselves opportunities to win basketball games.”
