GameDay Preview: Cavs vs. Warriors

Game Summary

The Cleveland Cavaliers (12-32) will go for their fourth straight victory tonight as they host the Golden State Warriors (27-17) at Quicken Loans Arena. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m. ET.

During their three-game home winning streak, the Cavs have outscored their opponent 102.3 to 93.7, while dishing out 26.7 assists to just 13.0 turnovers. Cleveland has held their last three home opponents to just .431 shooting and 16.0 miscues.

In their three most recent wins over Boston (1/22), Milwaukee (1/25) and Toronto (1/26), Cleveland has outscored each of their opponents in the fourth quarter, averaging 30.0 points on .630 (34-54) shooting from the field, to their foes’ 19.3 points on .328 (22-67) shooting in the final period.

The Warriors are in the midst of a four-game Eastern Conference road trip and are 13-5 against the Eastern Conference this season. Their 27-17 start is the best since the 1991-92 season.

Golden State's strong start can be contributed to their balanced scoring attack which has five players averaging 12+ points per game led by Stephen Curry (21.0) and David Lee (19.6).

Key to the Game/Key Matchups

Key to the Game

Getting Off to a Fast StartThe Cavaliers confidence is at a season-high right now and the Cleveland fans are buzzing with excitement over the team's recent winning streak.

It would be advantageous for the Wine and Gold to get off to a fast start in hopes of getting the crowd involved early.

Their main focus should start at the defensive end as the Warriors are 8-0 when scoring 30-plus points in the first quarter this season.

Key Matchups

Cavs frontcourt vs. Warriors frontcourtThe Warriors got a big boost to their frontcourt last night when their starting center, Andrew Bogut, came back from injury.

With Bogut, All-Star David Lee and key reserve Carl Landry down low, the Cavaliers' frontcourt will have their hands full.

The Wine and Gold frontcourt has been solid all season and recently added some depth after acquiring forward/center Marreese Speights in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies last week. In two games off the bench, Speights is logging 13.5 points on .550 (11-20) shooting, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 22.5 minutes per game.

Tristan Thompson has 11 double-doubles in his last 19 contests (since Dec. 19) for the Cavs, averaging 14.3 points on .514 shooting, 11.4 rebounds and 1.0 block in 34.9 minutes per game over that stretch.

Starting center, Tyler Zeller, pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds this past Saturday and is now averaging 6.2 rebounds per game, which is the 2nd-highest among all NBA rookie qualifiers.
