CLEVELAND, Ohio – LeBron James is now trying to help Akron adults get their GEDs by using the same basic principles his charitable foundation designed to help children stay in school and graduate.

Under a new partnership announced Thursday with Project Learn of Summit County, which exists to help adults get their GEDs, parents of the children enrolled in the LeBron James Family Foundation's scholastic mentorship program can get financial and emotional support to obtain high school equivalency credentials and learn other life skills.

Since 2011, James' foundation has targeted poor, at-risk Akron school children and their families to help keep the students in school and the parents engaged in their children's education. - CLICK HERE to read full story.

Countless predictions surrounded last year’s new-look Cavaliers squad. But none of those predictions foresaw the Wine and Gold acquiring J.R. Smith as the squad’s starting two-guard.

After an offseason for the ages, the Cavs went into last campaign with lofty expectations. But they found themselves struggling around the .500 mark as the calendar turned to 2015. And after dropping a lopsided Sunday afternoon decision to Dallas at The Q, the season took a dramatic turn the following night in Philadelphia.

That night – minutes before tipping off against the Sixers – the Cavaliers announced a three-team deal that sent Dion Waiters to the Thunder, bringing Smith, Iman Shumpert and a protected first-rounder back to Cleveland while sending Lou Amundson, Alex Kirk and their own 2019 second-rounder to New York. (Two nights later, the Cavs would package that first-rounder in another major deal that brought Timofey Mozgov to town.) - CLICK HERE to read full story.

The NBA prides itself on its global reach.

Early last season, the league took a major step in enhancing those efforts by allowing team apps to be housed internationally for the first time. Previously, the apps could only be located on U.S. app stores.

Mike Conley, the Cavs’ vice president of digital, said the team noticed some interesting trends.

One is that the Cavs are really popular in the Philippines — where LeBron James recently put on quite a show while taking part in a Nike global tour. - CLICK HERE to read full story.

Opposing GM: With health, Cavs favorites

If LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love can all stay healthy when it means the most, the Cavaliers will win the NBA championship, an opposing general manager told Amico Hoops.

In fact, the GM said he believed the Cavs would’ve defeated the Warriors in the Finals last season if either Irving or Love had been healthy in June.

“They didn’t need both,” said the GM, speaking on the condition of anonymity. “If either (Irving or Love) had played, with LeBron, that would’ve been enough.”

Of course, the Cavs are already behind the bouncing ball when it comes to keeping their Big Three together — as Irving isn’t expected to return from his Finals-ending knee surgery until well after the season begins. One report said he may not be back until January. - CLICK HERE to read full story.
