CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Thanks to the Indians and the World Series, LeBron James and the Cavs will get their 2016 championship rings 30 minutes earlier Tuesday night.
The Cavs' season-opening game against the New York Knicks at The Q was moved up to 7:30 p.m. because of Game 1 of the World Series, which the Indians are hosting at Progressive Field at 8. The Cavs-Knicks tilt was supposed to start then.
The ring ceremony and hanging of the Cavs' first NBA championship banner will begin at 7. Doors for The Q open at 5 and fans are urged to find their seats at 6:45. - CLICK HERE to read full story.
LeBron James and a boulevard of broken teams: NBA 2016-17 season preview
Author: Joe Vardon

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- LeBron James is well practiced in the art of deflecting questions about his legacy.
Each time he leapfrogs another NBA great on the scoring list, after every never-been-done-before comeback in the Finals or hoisting of the Larry O'Brien Trophy, James reflexively says he hasn't given much thought to all that he's accomplished.
When he retires, James likes to say, he's going to sit back with his longtime friend and business partner Maverick Carter, uncork a bottle of Screaming Eagle Cabernet (a bottle from 2012, the year of James' first championship, costs about $700) and reflect on what is already one of the league's greatest careers. - CLICK HERE to read full story.
J.R. Smith shaking off the rust, but not yet at full speed for Cleveland Cavaliers
Author: Chris Fedor
Publication: Cleveland.com
INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- J.R. Smith is starting to shake off the rust, saying he missed "like two shots" during Friday's practice.
"Yesterday I was (rusty) and obviously the first day of practice I was just because of probably anxiousness and wanting to do so much," Smith admitted Friday. "Bron (LeBron James) and Ky (Kyrie Irving) told me I got to slow down because I was trying to do way too much and too fast. But I'm starting to get back on pace."
His jumper isn't the concern. After an extended contract stalemate that kept him away from the team for a bulk of training camp and all but one preseason game, Smith's conditioning remains the primary question. - CLICK HERE to read full story.
