Adrian Griffin gets endorsement for Cleveland Cavaliers head coach position

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Mike Wilhelm has been an assistant coach with the Chicago Bulls for 12 years, so he has coached Adrian Griffin as a player and worked with him as a colleague. He was thrilled to learn that Griffin was interviewing with the Cavaliers on Tuesday.

"I am positive he can lead Cleveland to great things,'' said Wilhelm, a St. Ignatius graduate who started his career as the assistant video coordinator for the Cavs under Mike Fratello in 1993-94. "He has been preparing to be a head coach for the last four years."

Griffin, 39, spent the last four seasons as a Bulls assistant under Tom Thibodeau and two years before that as an assistant to Scott Skiles in Milwaukee. A native of Wichita, Kan., Griffin was undrafted out of Seton Hall but played nine seasons in the league with stops in Boston (1999-01), Dallas (2001-03, 2005-06), Houston (2003-04), Chicago (2004-05, 2006-08) and Seattle (2007-08)." - CLICK HERE to read full story.

Possible Cleveland Cavaliers coaching candidate Billy Donovan not guaranteeing a return to Florida
Author: Mary Schmitt Boyer
Publication: Plain Dealer

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Florida coach Billy Donovan stopped short of guaranteeing he would return to Gainesville, Fla., for a 19th season.

'I think when you start making guarantees about life and start making guarantees about where you're going to be, that's not good," Donovan said Tuesday at the SEC Spring Meetings, according to Edgar Thompson of the Orlando Sentinel. "If for some reason I ever change my mind and did something, I wouldn't want (people) saying, 'Well, he promised, he guaranteed, he said this on record.' I just think when you start doing that, that's a mistake.

'I've seen a lot of coaches over the years come out and say, 'No, no, no, no, I'm not going anywere, I'm not going anywhere,' and then all of a sudden they go somewhere and it's like, 'Well, this guy is a complete liar.' I don't want to get into that situation. There's been some teams that have called, but that's really it.' " - CLICK HERE to read full story.

2014 NBA Mock Draft: Two Kansas stars lead the way
Author: Chris Fedor
Publication: Plain Dealer

"CLEVELAND, Ohio -- For the third time in the last four years, the Cleveland Cavaliers own the NBA Draft's top selection. There are two situations to monitor, things that could shake up the top half of the draft: the health of Kansas big man Joel Embiid and whether the Minnesota Timberwolves trade All-Star forward Kevin Love.

With the NBA draft combine in the rearview mirror, players are focusing on individual workouts. Embiid, Kansas' Andrew Wiggins and Duke's Jabari Parker showed off their skills last week. With a month before the draft, things will change over the next few weeks.

Remember, a mock draft is a prediction of what I believe will happen on draft night." - CLICK HERE to read full story.
