Cleveland Cavaliers can't benefit from NBA Finals outcome -- Bud Shaw's Sports Spin
Author: Bud Shaw
Publication: Plain Dealer

"CLEVELAND, Ohio – Whatever your rooting interest in the Spurs-Heat NBA Finals, please for the sake of logic and your own sanity remove the Cavaliers from the equation.

The argument about how the outcome could mean LeBron James will/will not opt out of Miami and come home is the second leading threat to our remaining brain cells behind a continuous loop of "Splash" reruns.

Win or lose, why would James trade in his total Miami experience – four straight trips to the Finals, his friendships with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, his trust in Pat Riley and Eric Spoelstra, the lure of South Beach as a free agent attraction – when he so obviously doesn't need the money a long-term deal would bring." - CLICK HERE to read full story.

Cavs coaching search: Vinny Del Negro is fifth candidate to interview
Author: Rick Noland
Publication: Medina-Gazette and Chronicle-Telegram

"CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Former Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro interviewed with the Cavaliers over the weekend for the team's vacant head coaching position, two NBA sources told The Plain Dealer.

Del Negro had been rumored to be a candidate for the job all along, in part because he and Cavs general manager David Griffin worked together in Phoenix, where Del Negro served as a broadcaster, director of player personnel and assistant general manager.

But it wasn't known until Monday that he had interviewed for the position on Friday and Saturday, joining Bulls assistant Adrian Griffin, Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue, former Suns coach Alvin Gentry and former Memphis coach Lionel Hollins, who had dinner with team representatives on Sunday night and continued his meetings on Monday." - CLICK HERE to read full story.

Draft rumors: Cavs mum on No. 1
Author: Chad Ford
Publication: ESPN Insider

"With the NBA draft about three weeks away, here are the draft rumblings I'm hearing from around the league.

• Once again, the Cleveland Cavaliers are on the clock with the No. 1 pick. And once again, no one really has a clue what the Cavs are going to do with it.

Last year, no one -- journalists, NBA teams, even Anthony Bennett's agent -- had any idea whom the Cavs were going to select No. 1 until Bennett's name was announced. There were some rumblings the day of the draft that Bennett might be the guy, but nothing definitive. That obviously creates a lot of uneasiness and unpredictability throughout the draft." - CLICK HERE to read full story.

Joe Kotoch’s Mock Draft 3.0: Embiid now No. 1 to Cavs
Author: Joe Kotoch
Publication: Sheridan Hoops

"We are just over three weeks away from the 2014 NBA Draft, and now that the order is set, it’s time for pre-draft workouts.

Now is the time when prospects can distinguish themselves and improve their stock like Elfrid Payton and Zach LaVine have done. On the other hand, players such as Laquinton Ross and Kyle Anderson have failed to impress scouts.

According to sources, Cleveland has locked in on Kansas center Joel Embiid, and barring an unexpected surprise medically, will tab him with the first pick. Embiid is expected to be in Cleveland next week to interview and undergo a physical, so the Cavs should be able to answer any questions they might have." - CLICK HERE to read full story.
