INDIANAPOLIS -- No LeBron James. No Kyrie Irving. No win.

The Cleveland Cavaliers put up a hard-fought, valiant effort, but in the end they were not equipped with enough firepower to get past the Indiana Pacers, resulting in an 93-86 loss at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Friday night.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Shortly before tipoff against the Indiana Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt made the decision to rest LeBron James.

With the Cavs coming off a hard-fought an emotional win against Golden State and also being in the midst of a 10-day stretch with seven games, it's that kind of forward thinking that can help in the future.

The Cavs were also without point guard Kyrie Irving, who missed the game with a strained left shoulder, an injury suffered in the third quarter against the Warriors.

Early growing pains in the past, Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt has found his place

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Before the Cleveland Cavaliers came calling this summer, David Blatt received an inquiry from another team.

That team was the Golden State Warriors and Steve Kerr, a first-time NBA head coach, who was rounding out his staff. Kerr admitted Thursday he didn't know Blatt on a personal level, but the two were connected through former NFL GM-turned-agent, Mike Tannenbaum.

"Just his experience and the great reputation," Kerr said of the things he was drawn to. "I had a chance to speak with him when I was hiring my staff and I was really impressed. We met in L.A. for a few hours. He got a better opportunity." - CLICK HERE to read full story.
