Deron Williams cleared waivers, will join Cavaliers

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Deron Williams cleared waivers and has confirmed his intent to join the Cavs for the remainder of the season, according to a source with direct knowledge of the arrangement.

Williams, who was waived Thursday by the Dallas Mavericks and is the backup point guard the Cavs have coveted for some time, is expected to sign Sunday or Monday.

There were no takers on the waiver wire for Williams and what's left of his $9 million contract, though it is believed Williams' powerful agent, Jeff Schwartz, warned interested parties not to claim his client -- who wanted to join the Cavs. - CLICK HERE to read full story.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Kyle Korver spoke with his good friend Deron Williams Thursday night about joining the Cavs.

Korver would later say there wasn't much of a sales pitch needed to convince Williams to come to Cleveland.

Quinn Cook expected to sign 10-day contract with Dallas Mavericks; Canton Charge acquire Cameron Jones

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- With Quinn Cook reportedly set to sign a 10-day contract with the Dallas Mavericks this weekend, the Cleveland Cavaliers' D-League affiliate Canton Charge made a trade Saturday night to help fill the void.

The Charge acquired guard Cameron Jones and a fourth round NBA D-League Draft pick from the Santa Cruz Warriors in exchange for the rights to Jordan Morgan and Juvonte Reddic as well as the Sioux Falls' 2017 third-round pick.

Cook, a two-time D-League All-Star and the game's MVP this year, is averaging 26.1 points and 6.7 assists per game. - CLICK HERE to read full story.
