CLEVELAND, Ohio - If the status quo rules the day at the trade deadline, there are worse developments for a Cavaliers team that:

* Already added Kyle Korver and Derrick Williams.

* Has good reason and sufficient time to expect Kevin Love and J.R. Smith to return close to form.

* Played some of its best basketball this month. - CLICK HERE to read full story.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Cavs intend to sign forward Derrick Williams to a second 10-day contract Wednesday before the team returns to practice following the All-Star break, a source told Cleveland.com.

Williams, whom the Cavs signed as a free agent Feb. 9 and is averaging 9.8 points in 22.8 minutes per game, re-tweeted a picture taken of him and a cashier at the Panera in Independence, near the team's practice facility, Tuesday night.

Cavaliers opt to not re-sign Derrick Williams to second 10-day contract — for now

Publication: Akron Beacon Journal

Derrick Williams is a free agent again. The Cavaliers did not re-sign him to a second 10-day contract after his first one expired during the All-Star break, although that could still happen after Thursday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline passes.

The Cavs return to practice Wednesday afternoon, but they don’t play another game until Thursday night against the Knicks. It’s conceivable at this point Williams will not be in attendance at Wednesday’s practice.

For now, the Cavs have elected not to re-sign him to save on their luxury tax bill, since there obviously were no games or practices over the All-Star break, and to leave the roster spot open in case something presents itself in a trade between now and Thursday. As it stands, the Cavs have two open roster spots. - CLICK HERE to read full story.

The Cavaliers have been talking with the agent for free agent center Larry Sanders, league sources told Amico Hoops early Wednesday.

Sanders is 6-foot-11 and last played with Milwaukee during the 2014-15 season. He is represented by Joel Bell.

Sources said there is no deal yet between the Cavs and Sanders, but Sanders has made it known he would prefer to play for the Cavs over the other teams showing interest. More than 15 teams have explored signing Sanders so far this season, sources said.

The Cavs want to take a good look at Sanders and likely intend to have him conduct a workout. - CLICK HERE to read full story.
