CLEVELAND, Ohio – On the basket at the 2016 Rio Olympics everyone will remember, Team USA passed the ball six times, while the Serbs chased it like a kid trying to get his cap back from the schoolyard bullies. Finally, the ball met the man it was looking for, and Kevin Durant swished another 3-point shot.

It was one of redemptive moments for the generally unimpressive roster of NBA players. See! See! They can pass! They do know how to share!

Durant scored 30 points, the USA won the gold medal game by as many, and the key point of the sequence was that the ball stopped at Durant, which was certainly the right play.

It also stopped with him many times when it wasn't. - CLICK HERE to read full story.

Report: Trading Kevin Love "Not even a remote consideration"
Author: Justin Rowan
Publication: Fear the Sword

No player on the Cleveland Cavaliers roster has sacrificed more over the last two seasons than Kevin Love. He is a tremendously talented player on the offensive end of the floor, with defensive limitations. But his touches have been limited playing aside the best player of his generation in LeBron James and a blossoming star in Kyrie Irving.

Despite hiccups along the way, Love has found a way to adjust his game and remain productive even when the flow of the game dictates that he must take a back seat. These attributes came shining through in the NBA playoffs. He was a major contributor during the Eastern playoffs, both offensively and with solid post defense against players like Al Horford and Andre Drummond.

In the Finals, Love struggled against the small ball offense of the Golden State Warriors early in the series. He then had to battle back from a concussion, but still found a way to overcome his frustrations and make a significant impact in game seven on the boards, scoring and of course his now famous stop on Steph Curry.

Love has been through a lot in Cleveland, but according to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, he isn't going anywhere any time soon:

2 months after winning the NBA championship, the Cavs and JR Smith are in a contract impasse
Author: Scott Davis
Publication: Yahoo Sports Business Insider

One year after a contract standoff with Tristan Thompson dragged into the preseason, the Cleveland Cavaliers are in a similar situation with J.R. Smith.

Two months after winning the NBA championship, with September around the corner, Smith remains a free agent.

It's widely assumed that Smith and the Cavaliers will reunite, but the question is when and who will come out on top.

Smith went through a similar experience last season when he opted out of a $6.4 million player option to become a free agent, only to find a dry open market. He ended up re-signing with the Cavs on a two-year deal worth $5 million per season, but opted out again this season. - CLICK HERE to read full story.
