CLEVELAND, August 18th - The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed forward/center Scot Pollard and acquired guard Eddie Basden from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for forward/center Martynas Andriuskevicius, General Manager Danny Ferry announced today. Per the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, terms of the deal were not disclosed. "Adding Scot Pollard to our roster gives us more depth, size, toughness and experience,” Ferry said. “We believe Scot can be a valuable contributor to our team as we continue to build a championship level team here in Cleveland.”

Pollard, 31, played in 45 games (32 starts) for the Indiana Pacers last season and averaged 3.8 points and 4.8 rebounds in 17.1 minutes per game. Over a stretch of nine games last season (Jan. 31-Feb. 23) he averaged 5.3 points and 8.7 rebounds in 25.2 minutes per game. The 6-foot-11, 265-pounder has played in 460 career games (99 starts) with averages of 4.7 points and 5.0 rebounds in 17.6 minutes per game. He has played in 57 career playoff games with averages of 3.0 points and 3.2 rebounds in 11.6 minutes per game.

Basden, 23, played in 19 games for the Chicago Bulls last season and averaged 2.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.47 steals in 7.4 minutes per game. He was assigned to the Tulsa 66ers of the D-League and played in 14 games (eight starts) with averages of 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.4 steals in 25.4 minutes per game. The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder was signed by the Bulls out of UNC-Charlotte after being named the Conference USA Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year (back-to-back seasons) and All-Conference USA First Team as a senior after averaging 15.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.21 steals per game.

Andriuskevicius was acquired by the Cavaliers on June 29, 2005 from the Orlando Magic in exchange for a second-round pick and cash. He played a total of nine minutes in six games for Cleveland. He played in 15 games (four starts) for the Arkansas RimRockers of the D-League last season and averaged 7.0 points and 4.2 rebounds in 19.1 minutes per game. “Marty is a young and talented kid and he made good strides during the past year, but ultimately this trade puts us in a more flexible position with our roster. We wish him good luck as he moves on to Chicago,” Ferry said.
