CLEVELAND, April 11th – The Cavaliers will have “home court advantage” for the first round of the 2006 NBA Playoffs which will tip off at Quicken Loans Arena the weekend of April 22nd and 23rd. Individual tickets for Games A and B of the 2006 Cavaliers Playoffs presented by Cub Cadet Premium Lawn Equipment will go on sale Monday, April 17th at 10:00 a.m. Game A will be played either April 22nd or 23rd. The complete schedule for first round playoff games is typically not announced by the league office until the end of the regular season.

In the best of seven series, there are four possible home games in the first round that will be designated as Games A-D. Tickets for Games C and D will be made available if necessary. Tickets are available in the $44, $31 and $12 price classes and there is an eight ticket limit per person per game.

The first three rounds of playoffs are played as seven game series (first team to win four games wins series) and a 2-2-1-1-1 format. This means the team with home court advantage (as the Cavs have earned for the first round) plays the first two games at home, then two games on the road, then one at home if necessary, one on the road if necessary, and the final game at home if necessary. The NBA Finals are played as a seven game series with a 2-3-2 format.

Home court advantage in the playoffs is always given to the team with the better regular season record, regardless of playoff seeding. Playoff seeding only determines the match-up, not home court advantage.
