Pepsi Becomes Exclusive Beverage Supplier to Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena

CLEVELAND, November 8 - The Cleveland Cavaliers today announced a new partnership with PepsiAmericas that will give the beverage supplier the exclusive pouring rights to Quicken Loans Arena and make it the official beverage of the Cavaliers. The substantial multi-year partnership marks the first time the team and venue has changed beverage suppliers since the building opened in 1994.

Pepsi holds the exclusive pouring rights of its products of carbonated sodas and water for Quicken Loans Arena, as well as exclusive marketing rights in the carbonated soda category for the Cavaliers. Pepsi’s state-of-the-art equipment is installed throughout the venue and it will be the product of choice for the company’s meeting and banquet functions.

“There is a new energy that surrounds the team and the arena and Pepsi’s reputation for being promotionally aggressive is a great match for our organization’s goals in the marketplace,” said Cavaliers/Quicken Loans Arena President Len Komoroski. “From both a marketing and community outreach perspective, we couldn’t ask for a more proactive partner.”

The comprehensive agreement incorporates many levels of participation that includes an extensive signage package, fan and vendor promotions, multiple hospitality opportunities and community service commitments.

“From a marketing perspective it’s critical for us to be in places that our consumers deem relevant. Our new relationship with the Cavaliers enables us to do just that. Not only will we be serving Pepsi products such as Aquafina and Mountain Dew at The Q, we will be creating programs that allow us to transcend the walls of the arena and bring the Cavaliers to consumers across Northeast Ohio,” said Will Holsworth, director of retail sales and marketing for Pepsi Americas.

In mid-November, 25 million cans of Pepsi and Mountain Dew will be co-branded with the Cavaliers and distributed throughout Northeast Ohio to offer consumers a ticket discount to Cavs games at Quicken Loans Arena.

“PepsiAmericas is very pleased to join the Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena in a new long-term partnership. The timing is ideal, as the new ownership has demonstrated a commitment to the Northeast Ohio area with a significant investment in the team and facility. We are happy to be a part of this exciting new era and to be able to offer Northeast Ohio’s #1 selling soft drink line-up to fans that attend events at The Q!,” said Dan Hungerman, Pepsi Americas vice president and general manager Cleveland division.
