The Cleveland Cavaliers and 19 Action News Invite Students to get a Behind-the-Scenes Peek into a Newscast

Monday, October 6th at 10 a.m.

Quicken Loans Arena and the Cleveland Cavaliers have teamed up with 19 Action News to announce the First Annual 19 Action News Education Day at The Q on Monday, October 6th at 10:00 a.m. The news education day is a workshop to give elementary students an in-depth look at the many elements that go into a news broadcast. It’s not as easy as it looks!

Participants will get a behind-the-scenes peek into the inner workings of a newscast. Held in the unique atmosphere at The Q, students will have the opportunity to hear about many different careers in news, and “behind the scenes” activities that go into news broadcasts from some of the 19 Action news anchors and reporters including Emmy Award-winning reporter Denise Dufala, 37-year broadcast veteran David Wittman, sports anchor Tony Zarrella, Chief Meterologist Jeff Tanchak, and news anchor Sharon Reed.

News Chopper 19 will be grounded at The Q and traffic helicopter reporter Rick Abell and pilot Bill Asad will offer tours of the helicopter and explain the news technology in the chopper and the 19 Action News satellite van!

Registration fee for 19 Action News Education Day is $12 and are forms are available by calling 216-420-2141 or visiting and includes a voucher good for a ticket to a select 2008-09 Cavaliers home game! Check in for the event begins at 9:00 a.m. and the day concludes at approximately 12:00 p.m.
