CLEVELAND, OH - March 3rd, 2008 - Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James was named today as the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Month presented by Kia Motors for games played in the month of February.

In 14 games during the month, James averaged 30.2 points on .498 shooting, 8.9 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game. James also won the award for the month of January when he led Cleveland to an 11-3 record by averaging 32.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game. James has now won the award seven times in his career: twice this season, once in 2006-07, twice in 2005-06 and twice during the 2004-05 campaign.

During February, James led the NBA in points per game (30.2) and scored at least 25 points in all 14 games. He led all Eastern Conference players in assists per game (8.5) and ranked 11th in rebounds per game (8.9) while posting nine double-doubles. James set a career high with four straight double-doubles from Feb. 19-24 including two triple-doubles. Over a three-game span from Feb. 19-22, James posted at least 25 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists in each game. He joined Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson as the only three players to ever reach those levels in all three categories in each of three consecutive games.

On Feb. 27 at Boston, James scored 26 points and became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 10,000 career points. He became the first player since Magic Johnson during the 1988 season to post triple-doubles in consecutive days twice in the same season when he had triple-doubles of 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists versus Houston on Feb. 19 and 31 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists at Indiana on Feb. 20. James also accomplished the feat earlier this season on Nov. 24 and 25.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant was named the Western Conference Player of the Month. Other nominees for Eastern Conference Player of the Month were Detroit’s Chauncey Billups, Orlando’s Dwight Howard and Philadelphia’s Andre Miller.
