LeBron James Named All-NBA Second Team
CLEVELAND, May 10 - Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James was named to the All-NBA Second Team today by the NBA. He has been an All-NBA selection in each of the past three seasons (1st team in 2005-06 and 2nd team in 2004-05 and 2006-07). He joins Tim Duncan, Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki as the only four players to be named at least All-NBA Second Team in each of the past three seasons.
During the 2006-07 season, James averaged 27.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game. He joined Oscar Robertson as the only two players in league history to average at least 27.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game for three consecutive seasons. James ranked fourth in the NBA in scoring, 11th in steals and 15th in assists while leading the Cavaliers to their second-consecutive 50-win season and the second best record in the Eastern Conference.
This season, James led all players in votes received and was named a starter to the Eastern Conference All-Star Team. In his third All-Star appearance, he led the East with 28 points while adding six rebounds. He earned the Eastern Conference Player of the Month award in March and was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week on two occasions (March 5-11 and Nov. 13-19).
James was joined on the All-NBA Second Team by Houston’s Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, Toronto’s Chris Bosh and Washington’s Gilbert Arenas.
The 129-member voting panel of writers and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada consisted of national media members and members from each of the league’s 30 teams who regularly cover the NBA. The media voted for All-NBA First, Second and Third Teams by position with points awarded on a 5-3-1 basis.
