Cleveland’s LeBron James and Denver’s Carmelo Anthony Named got milk? Rookies of the Month
NEW YORK, Feb. 2 – For the third consecutive month,
LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers and
Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets were named the Eastern and Western Conference got milk? Rookies of the Month, respectively, for games played in January.
James, the number one overall selection in the 2003 NBA Draft, currently leads all rookies in scoring (20.8 ppg) and steals (1.48 spg), ranks second in assists (5.9 apg) and ranks fourth in rebounding (5.9 rpg). Although the Cavaliers entered the month 10-22, they posted a .500 record through January to improve to 17-29 overall.
Anthony, the third overall selection in the Draft, ranks second in scoring (18.6 ppg) and third in rebounding (6.2 rpg) among rookies. Anthony also leads the Nuggets in scoring, helping them to a 9-8 record for the month.

LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers
January 6 vs. New York: Scored 14 points, tied his career-high of 10 assists and grabbed four rebounds in a 107-96 win over the visiting Knicks.
January 13 @ Seattle: Tallied 27 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and two steals as the Cavaliers defeated the SuperSonics 105-96.
January 15 @ Golden State: Had a team-high 29 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals in a 119-102 loss to the Warriors.
Carmelo Anthony, Denver Nuggets
January 7 vs. Los Angeles Lakers: Tallied 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists in a decisive 113-91 victory over the visiting Lakers.
January 11 @ Sacramento: Scored 22 points on 10 for 17 shooting and grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds in a 117-106 loss to the Kings.
January 18 vs. Miami: Led the Nuggets in points (31) and rebounds (7) in a 88-80 win over the Heat.
Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference got milk? Rookies of the Month were Chicago’s Kirk Hinrich, Miami’s Udonis Haslem, Orlando’s Keith Bogans, Phoenix’s Leandro Barbosa and Toronto’s Chris Bosh.
