LeBron James Set to Give Hurricane Katrina Evacuees an All-Star Weekend

HOUSTON, Texas, February 17, 2006 --- Tanira Muse and her son Terrel will be among the stars on Saturday. Ms. Muse and her son were selected to attend the 2006 NBA All-Star Weekend and will meet LeBron James following the All-Star practice on Saturday.

The two will be guests of LeBron and the James Family Foundation at the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday. The Muse's were among a number of evacuees forced to relocate in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. LeBron and the James Family Foundation donated more than $200,000 worth of supplies to help the evacuees in Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana and school supplies to students who relocated to James' native Akron and Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to the Muse's, the Foundation will also host 20 young adults at the All-Star Jam Session on Saturday.

Regarding the special All-Star Weekend treat, James said, "We wanted to give them another positive experience. It's tough when you lose everything, and I admire their determination in dealing with their situation."

The James Family Foundation, is a public non-profit organization, dedicated to helping children and families (especially those headed by single parents) who are dealing with adversity. The foundation was established by James and his mother, Gloria in 2005. It is headquartered in Akron, Ohio.
