CLEVELAND, OH - November 28, 2011 - Shining a light on the heart-pounding spirit of high school sports, the Cleveland Cavaliers are proud to welcome 10 local junior varsity and varsity basketball teams to experience the thrill of competing on official NBA hardwood in a world-class facility as they host the very first 2012 Cavaliers High School Hoops Showcase at Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday, December 3!
Tipping off at 10:00 a.m. and continuing throughout the day, high school athletes from Northeast Ohio will feel the pride of seeing their name in lights. They'll feel the adrenaline rush of sprinting up and down the official Cavaliers court in front of their hometown crowd of family and friends. Additionally, teams will get the all-star treatment with access to Quicken Loans Arena locker rooms and use of the public address system, and tickets to an upcoming Cavs game. As a special treat for fans, the Cavaliers’ award-winning game entertainment groups the Cavalier Girls and energizing hip hop troupe the Scream Team will stop by for special appearances and performances.
The Cavaliers High School Hoops Showcase will include five (5) matchups, each composed of a condensed JV game and a full varsity game. Games are scheduled as follows:
- Medina vs. Normandy (Girls) JV – 10:00 a.m. Varsity – 10:30 a.m.
- Normandy vs. Trinity (Boys) JV – 12:30 p.m. Varsity – 1:00 p.m.
- West Geauga vs. Chardon (Boys) JV – 3:00 p.m. Varsity – 3:30 p.m.
- Columbus Africentric vs. Hathaway Brown (Girls) JV – 5:30 p.m. Varsity – 6:00 p.m.
- Revere vs. Berea (Boys) JV – 8:00 p.m. Varsity – 8:30 p.m.
Tickets for the Cavaliers High School Hoops Showcase are $16 and include admission to all five (5) games and a voucher for a future Cavs game, valid through the 2012-13 regular season (seats subject to availability for a mutually agreed-upon date). The Cavs will host another High School Hoops Showcase at The Q on December 23rd and are inviting local high school teams to take part in this great opportunity!
