The Cavaliers have one more order of business to take care of before they end the regular season and head into the NBA Playoffs…that is to thank the fans for their tremendous support during the 2005-06 campaign and let them know: “It’s not over yet!”

The Cavs will say “Thanks” is a big way by handing out over a HALF A MILLION DOLLARS in giveaways on Fan Appreciation Night presented by Cingular on Wednesday, April 19th when the team takes on the Atlanta Hawks at 7:00 p.m. at The Q. Immediately following the game, the players will literally take the Shirts Off Their Backs and Shoes Off Their Feet to give away to 45 lucky fans that will be randomly chosen.

“This has been an exciting season for the team and our fans and the thrill of it all is still ahead of us as we get ready for the playoffs,” said Cavaliers President Len Komoroski. “One thing is for certain, this is a team and fan partnership. To date, the home win record this season is 29-10, our average attendance is 19,263 with 16 sellouts, and we rank in the top five in the NBA for local broadcast ratings. It’s not hard to recognize the impact the fans have on the success of the team.”

Every fan in attendance for the April 19th game will receive a Cavaliers gift bag when entering The Q and the giving will keep going all night.

During the game, prize patrols made up of UPS representatives identified by their well-known brown uniforms will roam seating sections handing out a potpourri of giveaway items donated from the Cavaliers’ family of corporate partners.

A sampling of prize giveaways include:

  • T-shirts
  • Cheer cards
  • Restaurant gift cards
  • Ohio Lottery tickets
  • Playstation games
  • iPods
  • Autographed merchandise
  • RAZR phones
  • Continental Airline tickets
  • Year lease on a Mercedes Benz-GL
  • Hot tub from Litehouse Spas
  • Cheer sticks
  • Cavs bobble heads
  • Jewelry

“With over a half of million dollars in giveaways, I think it is safe to say that anyone attending the game will go home happy,” said Komoroski. “In addition to thanking our fans, we must also recognize and thank our corporate partners who consistently play a key role in making this all possible.”

Fans will also be treated to special messages and acts of appreciation from the players, and off-the-court activities will add to the high-energy fun that has been a part of the Cavaliers experience all season long.

At the end of the game, in the “Shirts Off Our Backs, Shoes Off Our Feet” giveaway, 15 fans will be randomly selected to receive one game-worn player jersey and 30 will win one game-worn shoe from that night’s game. Immediately following the game, the players will return to the court to hand out their jerseys and shoes to the 45 lucky fans.

“The Cavaliers are very fortunate to have the kind of support we’ve experienced this season,” said Komoroski. “In addition to those who will be attending the game for Fan Appreciation Night, we want our thanks to be heard throughout the northeast Ohio community and regions beyond.”
