Cavs QTV Production Team Takes Home Emmy Award at 45th Annual NATAS Ceremony

The Cleveland Cavaliers are proud to take home a new Emmy after attending the 45th Annual Lower Great Lakes Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Emmy Awards Saturday night, held at the Cleveland Convention Center. The Cavs own in-house QTV production team won in the category for Best Promotion of Program Sports for the Cavs 2013-14 in-game video open.

The Cavs in-game video open was produced by QTV in conjunction with local video production company Think Media Studios. This is the 5th year of the QTV/Think Media Studio partnership with the Cavaliers video open, which has now resulted in four Emmy awards.

Opening with hometown hip-hop group Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and transitioning into the heart-pumping anthem by Armin van Buuren, “We Are Here to Make Some Noise,” the video showcases real shots of Cleveland’s renowned illuminations – from the home court at The Q to the Detroit/Superior Bridge, Progressive Field, Terminal Tower, East 4th Street and Playhouse Square – flashing on and off to represent the energy of light. With Cavaliers players hooping in an open gym and exciting game highlights set to the beat of the music, the video captures the incredible vivacity “lighting up” the city of Cleveland.

The open was a fan-favorite during the 2013-14 season and can be viewed below:

In addition to the latest hardware, the Cavaliers also hold the following Emmys:

  • 2006 – Best Sports Program Feature/Segment for the Cavs in-game video open
  • 2010 – Best Promotion of Program Sports for Cavs in-game video open
  • 2011 – Best Promotion of Program Sports for Cavs in-game video open
  • 2012 – Best Promotion of Program Sports for Cavs in-game video open

The Cavaliers would also like to congratulate Fox Sports Ohio on winning an Emmy for Sporting Event/Game - Live/Unedited for their coverage of the Wine & Gold.
