Cleveland Cavaliers Continental Cup Tips Off TODAY!

CLEVELAND, OH - June 30, 2011 - The Cleveland Cavaliers are proud to team up with the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission for the Cleveland Cavaliers Continental Cup, one of the most significant international youth basketball tournaments in the United States that brings together 36 elite teams from all over the globe to Cleveland. Part of the sixth annual Continental Cup International Youth Sports Festival, the Cleveland Cavaliers Continental Cup starts TODAY, June 30th at the MultiPlex Sports and Recreation Center in Warrensville Heights and will continue throughout the weekend from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., concluding with a championship tournament on Sunday, July 3rd. All tournament games are free and open to the public.

With more than 3,500 athletes from 12 different countries, the Continental Cup International Youth Sports Festival continues to create a large, vibrant, annual civic event that celebrates internationalism, youth diversity and sportsmanship. The festival includes three tournaments: the AC Milan Continental Cup (soccer), the Cleveland Indians Charities Continental Cup (baseball) and the Cleveland Cavaliers Continental Cup (basketball). Participating athletes have the chance of a lifetime to compete against top teams from across the country and around the world while experiencing an adventure and cultural exchange beyond compare.

In addition to intense competition and a true cultural experience, the Cavs Summer Caravan is pulling up to the Cleveland Cavaliers Continental Cup with a truckload of entertainment! The Caravan will be stationed at the Continental Cup Opening Ceremonies tonight from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and at the MultiPlex throughout the entirety of the tournament. There will be fun for fans of all ages with special appearances from the Cavs Scream Team and Cavs mascot Sir C.C., portable hoops and interactive games.
