Cavs Fans Ready to Break the World "Wig-Wearing" Record

CLEVELAND, February 17th - In March of 2004, the Detroit Pistons fans broke the Guinness World Record for the “most people wearing wigs in a single venue” with 6,213. In April of 2005, Pistons fans broke their own world record by wearing 6,638 wigs at the same time.

So what do Cavaliers fans have to say about that? “PFFFFT!”

On Tuesday, February 21st at the Cavs vs. Orlando Magic game, every fan attending the game will receive a free “Wild Thing” Anderson Varejao wig courtesy of Quicken Loans. That’s potentially 20,562 Cavaliers fans wearing wigs on their heads in a single venue. That’s not any wig, but a wacky and wild “do” that resembles Varejao’s signature style.

During the first quarter, second timeout, fans and media members alike will be asked to put on their wigs to document the record-breaking moment that will be submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records. As they say, records are made to be broken.

Tickets for the Tuesday, February 21st Cavaliers vs. Orlando game at 7:00 p.m. are available at the Quicken Loans Arena Box Office, all Ticketmaster Ticket Centers, online at www.cavs.com, or charge-by-phone at (Cleveland) 216-241-2121, (Akron) 330-945-9400, (Youngstown) 330-747-1212 and (Columbus) 614-431-3600.
