The 8th Annual Black Heritage Celebration Concludes By Honoring Current Chart-Topping Gospel Sensation and Native Ohioan, William McDowell
CLEVELAND, OH - February 22, 2012 - The Cavaliers will bring the 8th Annual State Farm Black Heritage Celebration presented by PNC to a close with its signature Gospel Night on Friday, March 2nd at the Cavs vs. Chicago Bulls game at 7:30 p.m. This year’s uplifting and spirited night will recognize chart-topping gospel artist from Cincinnati, Ohio, William McDowell, a leading voice and pioneer in modern worship.
The Cleveland Cavaliers will salute McDowell with a special presentation at halftime featuring the Mt. Zion of Oakwood Village Church Praise Team. The group will perform McDowell’s hit song “I Won’t Go Back,” and McDowell will be awarded for his achievements as a Christian artist. McDowell attributes his accomplishments to his childhood days spent in church and playing the keyboard in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio.
The recent release of McDowell’s sophomore album, Arise, has marked a milestone in his career. The album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Chart, where it remained for 7 consecutive weeks. Arise continues to grace the #1 position on Billboard’s Praise and Worship Charts, creating a 10 week streak at the top spot.
