Quicken Loans Arena Continues Big Rise in Arena Rankings for Entertainment Events

CLEVELAND, OH - March 8, 2012 - Quicken Loans Arena (The Q) continues to climb the charts in Pollstar magazine’s list of Top 200 arena venues worldwide for entertainment ticket sales. In the trade publication’s annual year-end business analysis report for 2011, The Q ranked No. 12 in the United States and No. 31 worldwide in ticket sales for top touring attractions. The venue’s rankings have been on a steady rise over the past four years, giving credence to Cleveland and Quicken Loans Arena’s status as a primary destination for major concert tours.

In 2008, 2009 and 2010, Quicken Loans Arena’s Pollstar rankings for arena entertainment ticket sales in the U.S rose from No. 58 to No. 38 to No. 27 respectively, to its current No. 12 standing. In the same category among top arena venues around the globe, The Q’s ranking moved up from No. 95 to No. 67 to No. 51 during those years, and now holds the No. 31 spot. The upward trend is expected to continue with big-name tours scheduled for Cleveland in 2012.

Quicken Loans Arena is northeast Ohio’s premier sports and entertainment facility and major attraction for top tier concert tours and family shows—as well as home to the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers, AHL Lake Erie Monsters, AFL Cleveland Gladiators and host to the Mid-American Conference and NCAA basketball tournaments. The Pollstar report, which covers the global concert business, does not include ticket sales from the arena’s sporting events.

“We take pride in our ranking because it reflects the hard work that goes on behind the scenes on so many levels,” said Len Komoroski, Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena president. “Much credit goes to the great relationships we have with tour promoters and agents, as well as our team members who get behind the sales and marketing efforts for each show. Of course, we must thank the performers for hitting the road and bringing their incredible tours to Cleveland!”

In 2011, The Q hosted major tours that included Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, TSO, Keith Urban, Glee Live!, NKOTB/BSB, Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band, Foo Fighters and Josh Groban. To date for 2012, Quicken Loans Arena will welcome Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Neil Diamond, Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour, Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks, and Madonna who will play Cleveland for the first time since 1987 in November.
